It has been a while since I've had lunch at Mauro's Cafe , esconced in the still cool Fred Segal Melrose complex.
While in NYC earlier this week, I met up with an ex-NY'er friend who is now living in Amsterdam. Since she was staying in the Village , & another friend was coming from the Upper West Side & I was still in Midtown , the best bet as a geographical compromise was EATALY , 5th Ave. & 28th.
I can depend on the Le Pizza & Le Verdure areas of EATALY for vegetarian dishes. The pizzaiolo must hve been in a bad mood that evening as the Margherita we ordered was the soggiest specimen.
If we were all not famished , it would have been sent back. The arugula pizza wrap hybrid was decent.
So for lunch today . I wasn't expecting much from Mauro's. But they had this new Grilled Vegetables & Quinoa plate on the menu. It was very good. The quinoa was warm & the grilled vegetables were extremely firm & fresh.
Quinoa & kale are the new flavorites ; but they have to be treated well in order to coax out their flavor.
This was probably filmed during Thanksgiving break as the shala is not its usual packed self. I should remember as I am in a couple of the frames ; Janu Sirsasana A & Padmasana.
UNKLE's sublime twist on Moby's " God Moving Over the Face of the Waters". I probably played this in the car driving home in the morning after a long New Year's Eve & Day of partying in order to tune out. Nowadays, it is more a glimpse of SAMADHI after yoga practice or an exuberant kirtan.
Eddie Stern chats with Moby regarding his transformative yoga practice for the Urban Yogis Series. I've been listening to Moby's music ever since he released "GO " back in the day. I thought of him this week as my iPod randomly played his cut " Honey " , which led me to finding this inspiring video. 2012 turned out to be a great year. I am looking forward to 2013. Based on my travel schedule for this coming January , it is going to be MAHA !
